Why Recording Studios Should Own A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
There you are in your studio recording a hot song. The bass is kicking, the vocals are fly and guitar is rocking, your mix is perfect. Everything is just the way you like it and then all of a sudden, “lights out.” Oh no, everything you just mixed is gone. All that hard work, zapped because the electricity went out.
Have you ever had those moments? I know I have. I take claims to losing a song or two. There is an easy solution to this, I decided to look into a UPS Battery Backup (Uninterruptible Power Supply) for my recording PC. I have to tell you it’s one of the best investments I have added to my recording studio. I never have to worry about the electric going out on me again while I am recording. The cool thing about these battery backups is not only do you have a battery backup for your recording PC but most of them have at least three other outlets that you can use as well. So you can plug in your amp and wherever else to the back of this UPS. Here’s another added plus, it can as also used as a surge protector. Protect your precious instruments from interruptions.
What you need to understand is a UPS battery backup is not intended to continue recording for hours and hours. Basically they give you enough power to shut down your recording pc, instruments, etc. the right way and avoid spikes. I would recommend you get a UPS that will hold a 20 minute charge that way you have enough time to power everything down or finish any last minute changes. They are very inexpensive and in the long run you are saving tons of money by not going out and paying for new instruments or a recording PC.
